Different Names of Kanchanar Plant:
- Botanical Name: Bauhinia verigata
- Hindi Name: Kanchanar
- Bengali Name: Kanchan
- Marathi Name: Koral
- Gujrati Name: Champakati
- Sanskrit Name: Kanchanar, Gandari, Yugapatraka.
Varieties of Kanchanar tree:
- White Variant: Bauhinia verigata
- Red Variant: Bauhinia purpurea
- Yellow Variant: Bauhinia tomentosa

Every part of kanchanar plant is usable and each part has different uses for different diseases.
Ayurvedic Properties of Kanchanar:
- Rasa (Taste): Astringent (Kasaya)
- Guna (Qualities): Light to digest (Laghu), Dry (Ruksha)
- Virya ( Potency): Cold (Sheeta)
- Vipaka (Taste after digestion): Pungent (Katu)
Medicinal Uses of Kanchanar plant:
Kanchanar plant has many medicinal uses. Some of them are as follows.
1. Burning Sensation in Urine, Urinary Problems
5 gram of Kanchanar beej (seeds) powder added with 1 glass of water helps in Mutrakriccha (Burning Sensation in Urine, Urinary Problems).
2. Thyroid Problem, Tonsils, Tumor, Cysts:
20 gram of stem bark added with 200 ml of water and boil up to 3/4 th is reduced. The remaining 1/4 th should take in case of Thyroid disorders, any kind of tumour, cyst, boils and also in goiter, tonsillitis and other hormonal disorders.
3. Loss of Appetite, Liver Disorders:
10 leaves and 20-gram stem bark added with 200 ml water and boil up to 3/4 th is reduced. The remaining 1/4 th added with misri should take in case of loss of appetite and any kind of liver disorders.
4. Passing Low Quantity of Urine:
Stem bark 10 gram and 3-4 gram of coriander (Dhania) boiled in 200 ml of water and reduce to 1/4th. Then extract the water and drink it with Misri. This is very beneficial for people who are passing low quantity of urine.
5. Gas, Acidity (Amlapitta), Ajeerna:
5-gram stem bark and 5 gram Triphala powder added with 200 ml of water and boil upto 3/4 th is reduced. The remaining 1/4 th should take in the morning in empty stomach in case of gas, acidity and ajeerna.
In case of weakness, you have to dry flower of kanchanar in shade and take it in powder form.
7. Skin Diseases:
If you are suffering from skin diseases like itching, redness of the skin, rashes etc. you should apply the paste of kanchanar flower.
8. Weakness in Bones:
If you have weakness in bones then you should take 3-4 gram of stem bark powder and 1 teaspoon turmeric powder with 1 glass of milk once daily.
